Light Up Chicago Excursion – Romantic Getaway!
Cincinnati – Chicago - Cincinnati
November 20th – November 25th
Grab your sweetie and prepare yourself for your romantic getaway to Chicago to shop, sightsee, enjoy the restaurants, and of course, witness the grand illumination of the Magnificent Mile during the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival & Parade the evening of November 22nd. Enjoy first class service, food and drink as you travel from Cincinnati to Chicago on the Observatory and the Birch Grove. Friday, November 20th – Board the Observatory and Birch Grove at McCullough Yard in Norwood. Enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before making the descent into Cincinnati Union Terminal to join the westbound Amtrak Cardinal en route to Chicago.
Saturday, November 21st - Awake to a breakfast prepared by our private chef before arriving in Chicago around 11:00 am. Once you arrive, you are free to explore Chicago on your own for lunch and dinner. The Cincinnati Railway Company is not responsible for in town travel upon arrival, but we are more than happy to help you find transportation. There are many options available at Chicago Union Station including taxis, rental cars, and the ‘El’, located only a few blocks away. Retire to your sleeping quarters at the end of the evening in Chicago’s Union Station yard.
Sunday, November 22nd – Enjoy another day in Chicago at your leisure, and be sure to check out the Parade on the Magnificent Mile, where Mickey Mouse will illuminate over a million lights with his magic wand as he travels down Michigan Ave!: http://www.themagnificentmile.com/SeasonalEvents/fall/schedule_of_events.cfm
Monday, November 23rd – Awake to breakfast and coffee and spend another day enjoying Chicago. Lunch and dinner will be on your own in Chicago. Lunch and dinner will be on your own.
Tuesday, November 24th – One more half-day in Chicago before returning to the rail cars for the return trip home. You will need to be back on the cars by 3:00 p.m. to catch them before they start switching the cars. Departure is scheduled for 5:45 p.m Breakfast will be served in the morning, and dinner will be served in the evening after departure while enroute to Cincinnati.
Wednesday, November 25th - Arrive in Cincinnati in the early morning hours around 3:17a.m. Rise at your leisure and disembark at McCullough Yard in the morning after a relaxing cup of coffee and breakfast.
