2008 Public Rail Excursions
Multiple Private Car Excursion to the Beautiful Northern Michigan Resort town of Petoskey, Michigan. – AUGUST 2008
July 30th – August 9th
The Cincinnati Railway Company will once again be traveling to the beautiful Northern Michigan resort town of Petoskey, Michigan. Enjoy a unique journey with up to twelve other Private Railcars from all over the Country. Highlights of the trip include stops along the way at events and sites like the Marion Old Fashioned Days, swimming at Fife Lake, Boyne Falls Polish Festival, a three day layover in Petoskey, and a day trip to Mackinaw Island. We will be selling bedrooms on both the Birch Grove and the Observatory.

Petoskey Trip Itinerary
Wednesday July 30 - Board trains in Cincinnati, Ohio at McCullough Yard in Norwood. Dinner will be on your own before you arrive. Drinks and snacks will be served on board before you retire to your sleeping quarters for the night.
Thursday July 31 - We will depart Cincinnati behind the northbound Amtrak Cardinal line in the early morning hours and arrive in Chicago, Ill. approximately 10:35 a.m. Breakfast will be served, with lunch and dinner on your own in Chicago as you explore the city before retiring back to your railcar at the end of the day. All passengers will be responsible for their own travel while in Chicago; however, we will be more than happy to provide you with information to help you get around!
Friday August 1 - Awake in Chicago to enjoy one more morning and afternoon there before departure. Breakfast will be served with lunch on your own. Be sure to be back to the cars by 1:30 p.m., as we will depart Chicago at 3:00 p.m. on the Amtrak Blue Water line, arriving in Port Huron, Mich. at 11:03 p.m. Dinner will be served on board. We will cut off in Port Huron and take a special train back to Durand, Mich. and on to Owosso, Mich.
Saturday August 2 - Awake at your leisure, and head up to the dome for breakfast. We will depart from Owosso at 8:00 a.m., and arrive in Marion, Mich. at approximately 11:45 a.m. for a two hour layover at the Marion Old Fashioned Days and lunch. We will depart Marion at 1:45 p.m., and arrive in Cadillac, Mich. at 2:30 p.m., where we will switch locomotives and depart Cadillac at 2:45 p.m. We will arrive at Fife Lake at 3:45 p.m., for a two hour layover. Enjoy the swimming hole and let the community of Fife Lake show you around town! Feel free to grab a bite to eat while you’re there, but don’t forget to save your appetite for the Boyne Falls Polish Festival later that night! We should arrive in Boyne Falls at 8:00 p.m. and stay for a two hour layover to enjoy the festival! We will depart Boyne Falls at 10:00 p.m. and arrive in Petoskey, Mich. at 11:00 p.m. Retire to your sleeping quarters for the evening.
Sunday August 3 - Layover in Petoskey – Breakfast Served

Tuesday August 5- Layover in Petoskey- Breakfast Served
Wednesday August 6- We will depart Petoskey at 8:00 a.m. and arrive in Cadillac at 12:30 p.m. Layover to service cars and explore Cadillac for shopping and lunch. We will depart Cadillac at 2:30 p.m. and arrive in Mt. Pleasant at 5:00 p.m. for dinner at the Mountaintown Station www.mountaintown.com and a two hour layover. We will depart Mt. Pleasant at 7:00 p.m., and arrive in Owosso at 9:15 p.m. Wed. night we will continue on from Owosso to Durand. Our special train will depart Durand and travel to Port Huron. Our consist will then be added to the Amtrak Blue Water line at Port Huron.
Thursday August 7- We will depart Port Huron at 5:15a.m., and arrive in Chicago at 11:14 a.m.
Saturday August 9- We will depart Chicago at 5:45 p.m. and serve one final dinner on board before you retire to your rooms for the end of the night.
Sunday August 10- Arrive in Cincinnati early a.m., de-board at your leisure when you awake in the morning.

*OLIVER HAZARD PERRY – Call for exclusive lease of the Oliver Hazard Perry to Petoskey. Lease includes private chef, accommodations for 3 couples, and all meals and beverages while in transit.
*Cincinnati Railway Company reserves the right to cancel this trip should it not reach 80% occupancy.
